When your check engine light comes on, it can be an indication of one of many things. Luckily, though, it normally isn't a major problem with your car. Most times, according to a list from the 2010 CarMD, it is normally the O2 sensor, the catalytic converter, or a problem with the mass air flow sensor. It could even be a loose gas cap or something to do with one of the spark plug wires. And occasionally it could even be set off due to a change in humidity and will just go off on its own. But, since your handy sensor won't tell you exactly what the issue is, it's best to get it checked out by a professional as soon as you can. This will avoid even more problems caused by the "problem" wreaking havoc on your vehicle. So, just get it checked out to avoid a headache.
