Is an SAV set to be the newest member of the BMW i Family?

When people first think of BMW their minds likely go to looks and luxury. True, BMW models are known for both, and their timeless styles have captivated, and made envious, many a driver.

But BMW isn't all beauty and no "brains", so to speak. BMW models are smart, with cutting edge convenience and safety technology. The brand is also constantly innovating so they can lead the automotive pack.

One way BMW has been stepping up their game is in the all-electric engine market. The BMW i8 proved they could create an absolutely sinful and sexy luxury vehicle that looks like nothing you'd expect from a "green" car. They also proved they could do the same with a vehicle costing well under 100k with the BMW i3!

Not one to rest on their hard-earned laurels, BMW is now eyeing the powerful X-series lineup for their next electric vehicle, and we believe it'll be a huge hit with families who need the space, but are also conscious about style and fuel consumption.

If this model does come to fruition (and we don't know why it wouldn't!) drivers shouldn't expect anything until 2018. That's enough time to get our curiosity juices simmering! If we had to speculate, we guess the BMW X3 would be their choice for an all-electric engine, but it'd also be nice to see one of the coupe Sport Activity Vehicles receive the new powertrain too.
